Castle Creek Country Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Escondido, California.
Castle Creek Country Club first opened for play in 1956. The course was redesigned in 1983 by Jack Daray, Jr. and Stephen Halsey and later by Perry Dye.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,372 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,706 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 596 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 151 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, the 596 yard par-5 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 15, a 158 yard par-3.
Castle Creek is an older style traditional layout that is quite nice and many will find it a charming departure from the mega course factory design prevelent in many areas today. The mature trees make great hazards and the raised greens make shorter holes play longer, the traps are deep and the greens are undulating. The course is located in the basin of a valley. The Castle Creek River flows throughout the course and comes into play on six holes, including four of the last six. There are many oak and pine trees lining the fairways.

What a shame as this longtime course in north San Diego County with a great layout seems to be headed towards bankruptcy. The fairways and tees were unmowed and going to seed and the bunkers were close to mudpits. The greens were thin, hard, and bumpy. The course can be fun and challenging but with current conditions I won’t be back.

Wide range of par 4 holes; from long & straight (1,4,9,10,18) to hitting for position off the tee (3,7,13,14,16). Narrow fairways on pR 5'S 11 & 12.

Condition of the course must have improved since the last person evaluated it. The greens seem to be in good condition, the fairways good and the course a challange, particularly the back nine. Tight fairways and well bunkered greens make for an excellent experience.

Having played this course several times in the past, I was very disappointed in it's present condition. Staff informed me that the course has new ownership. That sums it up. Very disappointing.

I used to play this course a once a week years ago. At one time it was rated as one of the top ten courses in San Deigo.
I was shocked to see the condition of the course last Saturday. The Tee Boxes need to be releveled, some of the putting greens were like waffle irons, they must have a fungus or something. It's really too bad. This had been a favorite course of mine with a great layout.
I ask if it had been bought out in the last year and an employee told me, "Yes, and the new owner is not taking care of the course!" That was obvious, I won't be back!

I've played this course many times and always come back a few times a year. Front 9 is much easier to score on with #6 being the toughest,a long 596 yd par 5 into the prevailing wind. Holes 10,11 and 12 are 3 of the toughest back to back to back holes in San Diego County. From the blue tees #10 plays 444 yd par 4 downhill (OB left-trees right)with a green that slopes away from front to back. 11 is a tight, uphill 469 yd par 5 (trees on both sides) with a shallow, well bunkered green. 12 is a 491 yd downhill par 5 (OB right-trees left)hole with another green that slope away from the player. The rest of the course is interesting but unremarkable with a good mix of short and long par 3s and 4s. Nice backcountry surroundings with some housing on some holes. Good value.

I thoroughly enjoyed my round at Castle Creek. I thought the greens were in superb condition. The ball rolled very well on them and I managed to take just 34 putts for my round, a little better than my average.

Love this course for the money. You get some flats, hills, & streams. Elevated and downhill greens, lots of trees and the course sits in a beautiful valley.

I love the subtle difficulty of this course. If you can hit it straight you can score well, but just a little left or right and you will be scrambling. The country vistas add a great feel for your round. The course management has spent the last 2 years improving the course so if you have not played here for a while you will be pleasantly surprised.

Really has a nice layout but that is about it. I played the course about 20 years ago and not much has changed. Greens have a horrible weed growth and at least 3 greens are unputtable. Grass in fairways are uneven, the dryness is expected due to little water. Either put some money into the course or close it.
